News for 2016

It’s been a great year at Mishap Games and I’m ready to make 2016 an even better one! I wanted to update you on all the news, events, and activities you’ll see in the upcoming year. This update is so long, I broke it into multiple sections. First up: Store News
-Mishap Games has a new employee! Say hi to John O. He works Mondays, Tuesdays, and Saturdays. This also means the store is now open 7 days a week.
-We hit 500 likes! Thanks for all the support.
-I’m continuing to update the website with new features and fixing bugs. Expect to see better mobile device usability, optional email notifications when people sign up to your event, optional email notifications when your special orders arrive, and many more features.
-I’m also planning additional features for the Misadventurer’s Guild kiosk in the store. Be on the lookout the next time you swipe.
-The Misadventurer’s Guild has been a big hit. I’m going to expand the ways you can earn XP over the next year.
-To keep track of all the changes to the Misadventurer’s Guild and the event system I’ll be creating a home page for each of them. The pages will have tips, tutorials, and the latest news about each system.
-Longer term, I’ll also add informational pages for some of our most popular games. These pages will list upcoming events for those games, news, popular days for playing, and information on how people play that game at the store.
-Mishap Games now accepts UNUSED Amazon gift cards.
-I purchased a 3d printer for the store! Look for some custom products for sale soon: dice holders, specialized card holders, and box inserts

Card Games:
-In 2016, Mishap Games will be hosting a lot more card game events. Keep an eye on the calendar for card events.
-Our favorite new card game is Ashes: Rise of the Phoenixborn. We will be participating in Ashes organized play, including regular events and tournaments. Look for OP starting in April and lots of practice events until then!
-Another popular game we will be supporting: Warhammer Quest Card Game. Look for some competitive team events for this popular co-operative card game.
-There has been a lot of interest in the Pathfinder Society Adventure Card Guild. More info this spring.

Board Games:
-Some of my favorite board games are co-operative games. This year, Mishap Games will be starting a co-op board game club. This club will meet regularly and play a rotating selection of interesting co-op games.

RPGs:
-Since the store is open seven days a week, we have lots of free days for weekly RPG sessions. Contact us to arrange a day if you are interested in running a game.
-Upcoming website feature: Looking for group. A place to post that you are looking for players to fill out a group, or that you are a player in search of a group.

Minis:
-We will be increasing the frequency of larger organized events for our most popular minis games. For example, Warhammer 40k will have an organized kill team league in January, hobby events to paint your new Start Collecting boxes, and a map campaign in the spring. We’ll be adding these sorts of events for Warhammer 40k, Age of Sigmar, Bolt Action, Gates of Antares, and Frostgrave.
-Now that the holidays are over, look for our very popular painting classes to return on the weekends.

League of Miniature Gentlemen:
-As an experiment, Mishap Games is trying a new sort of organized play for minis games. We are calling it the “League of Miniature Gentlemen”.
-A new small scale skirmish game and campaign every 4 months
-A low monthly fee of approximately $15-25, depending on the game -Limited slots between 4 to 8 players.
-You will receive the rules, and a complete army of miniatures.
-The first few weeks of events are devoted to hobby time and painting your new army.
-The rest of the time is a highly organized story based campaign with a mix of 1-on-1 games and large multiplayer games to close out each month.
-After the initial campaign, Mishap Games will rerun the campaign if you missed it and can gather the necessary amount of players.
-Some example games: Legends of the Old West(movie-style old west), Ronin(movie-style Sengoku period Japan), Saga (Early medieval/viking period), In Her Majesty’s Name (steampunk), Fistful of Kung-fu (Hong Kong action movies), and Black Ops (modern asymmetrical combat).

Star Wars:
-The big combined Star Wars Event for X-Wing/Armada/Imperial Assault and Bolt Action is January 9th.
-Look for more tournaments and other organized play for all three Star Wars games.
-We will be running the X-Wing co-op campaign Heroes of the Aturi Cluster. More details soon.
